That’s what Henry Markram and company are claiming. As the commentary by Luke McKinney says, there’s plenty of cause to skeptical. However, giving the danger and potential of artificial general intelligence, this news further bolsters the case for taking the subject seriously. If AGI could appear within the next decade or two, this profoundly affects all existing political positions and social struggles. I ask other radicals, in particular, to consider the prospect.

McKinney’s piece also exposes the animal suffering that underlies current brain research programs.
