Focus on gender over at IEET January 19, 2011

Posted by Summerspeaker in Feminism, Transhumanism.

This years has started on an encouraging note. First, Hank Pellissier’s piece “Feminism’s Social Side Effects” sparked an extended debate by suggesting a causal relationship between feminism and social well-being. Now Mark Treder asks “Where are all the women?” Dale Carrico has been habitually criticizing IEET for its lack of women and people of color for superintelligence only knows how long. There’s always something awkward and sad about privileged groups asking why the oppressed don’t participate more despite their oh-so-earnest efforts at inclusion. You see this all the time in leftist circles. I hope worthwhile insight comes out of the discussion, but I won’t hold my breath. Regardless, I’m pleased to see this emphasis and look forward to its continuance through the year.

Warmest wishes to everyone for 2011.
