IEET piece on artificial wombs May 31, 2011

Posted by Summerspeaker in Feminism, Technology.

Read it here. Shulamith Firestone’s analysis of such reproduction technology remains relevant: potentially liberating if employed for feminist but nightmarish if controlled by the power that be. I may comment in more depth later, as this is a critical theme. For moment, I’ll just note how “human erotic enjoyment” being “ruined by the threat of pregnancy” comes from the obsession with PIV intercourse. Prehistoric hunter-gatherers could have engaged (and possibly did) in various fun sex acts without risk of procreation.
